About

Hi there, my name is Steve Dibb. I’m making this blog because I enjoy studying the scriptures, and I’d like to share some personal insights.

Firstly though, I’d like to make it clear what my intentions with this blog are. I’m just going to post notes and/or journal entries that I write myself when I am studying the scriptures. That is, to say, it’s not my goal to make this a primary source — or in other words, I’m not writing primarily to an audience. I don’t want to seek out or even be seeming to seek a discipleship. If I have any instruction given here, it is solely for myself — the only things that I can write about with conviction are what I’m going through. I’m trying to avoid any pretension of preaching to what others should be doing, but rather, document personal insights.

The prophets have told us to use social media to preach the gospel, and while that commandment makes me a bit wary for the reasons above, I’m going to try and share what I can.

About me, personally, I love studying and reading the scriptures, though in all honesty I do not do it regularly. I’d like to say I’d enjoy doing it more, but I am human, and sometimes the interest only comes in passing. So my blog posts may be sporadic at times. If that’s the case, it’s just another indication that I have no interest in a following.

I’ve been told by a few people that I have a way of looking at the scriptures in a different way, and that I should write a book about my findings. I don’t really feel up to that task, again because I don’t feel myself an authority on anything except my own insights.

It’s worth noting as well that I’m going to post things that are, at times, conjecture as to what the scriptures are trying to tell us. I’m in no way representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, of which I am a practicing member (when I can .. again, human weakness).

I really do enjoy studying the scriptures though. 🙂 I enjoy digging out gems from the Old Testament, more than anything. I especially love the book of Isaiah. After the Old Testament, I enjoy reading the Book of Mormon, although I don’t study it nearly as deeply at the moment. I tend to take general notes more than anything. I haven’t had much experience with the New Testament. I have a lot of difficulty for some reason with the Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, so it’s unlikely you’ll see a posts about books in those scriptures.

Finally, I hope you enjoy. I’m going to enable comments, but I’ll moderate them so things don’t get out of hand. Feel free to contact me if interested. 🙂
